Jasmine Project

The Jasmine Project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, is a free 12 session empowerment programme and 8 session home management programme designed by and for women who have survived domestic abuse. The Jasmine Project helps survivors regain confidence and rebuild their lives through:

  • Dedicated caseworkers offering emotional and practical support
  • Mindfulness & Resilience and Managing the Home courses, shaped by service users
  • Online community check-in
  • Meaningful ongoing connection with a supportive community of women
  • Parenting workshops run by our Key Child Support Officer, for families who have experienced domestic abuse
  • Volunteering and opportunities for service users to get involved

Our staff and volunteers are South Asian or have direct experience of these cultures. They understand the cultural pressures on these communities and speak the following languages:

  • Urdu • Punjabi • Hindi  • Tamil • Bengali • Gujarati

“It is clear that Jasmine is one of the best programmes we have delivered. By giving service users more time and support, and moving from crisis management to community-based empowerment, Jasmine is changing lives. Women are learning, we are learning, and we’re sharing that learning back into the community.”

Sudarshan Bhuhi MBE, CEO, Aanchal Women’s Aid, May 2020

“Having had to transition this service to remote access during the pandemic, it’s continued to be such an inspiring and transformative experience for the women joining the programmes.

With the support of service user direction, we have been able to tailor the service to be flexible around busy lives, juggling homeschooling and work. Women have welcomed the break in their day to focus on their mental health and personal development and have enjoyed the daily connection, building support networks and friendships in what is currently an unsettling and isolating time.”

Colette Taylor, Chief Operations Officer, Jan 2021

“At first I felt there was no point to life but now I have the strength to fight for it.” Service user, 2020

“All the information covered in sessions can help in the future.” Service user, 2021
