Quick Exit (click or press esc)

Our yellow quick exit button at the top right of our website will quickly hide our page but you will need to take additional steps to cover your tracks.

Warning – there is no way to completely cover your movements online. If you want to be completely sure that you are not being tracked online, the safest option would be to access the internet at a library, at a trusted friend’s house or your workplace.

The below points are on ways to browse safely online – we have put together the following for your guidance to help minimize the chances of someone finding out that you have visited this website.

Internet browsers save certain information as you browse. To find out what a person has been searching for, or what websites have been visited you can check the ‘Browser History’ and the ‘Internet Cookies’ on the device used.

If you do not know the type of browser you are using, click on Help on the toolbar at the top of the browser screen. A drop down menu will appear, the last entry will say About Internet Explorer, About Mozilla Firefox, or something similar. The entry refers to which browser type you are using – you should then refer to the relevant instructions below.

Private Browsing/Incognito

Most modern browsers now enable you to access the internet in a Private Browsing or Incognito Mode, this doesn’t store your website history or cookies and therefore doesn’t leave this information on your computer for other people to find.

Internet Explorer 9+

Click the Tools button or the picture of the Tools Button  top right, point to Safety and then click InPrivate Browsing.

Google Chrome

In the top right corner of the browser window click the Chrome menu and then select New Incognito Window.

Firefox

Click the menu button in the top right corner and then click New Private Window.

Safari

Click the menu button in the top right hand corner and from this drop down menu select Private Browsing.

We would also recommend you double check that nothing has been stored by following the steps below:

Internet Explorer

Click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options. On the General page, under Temporary Internet Files, click on Delete Cookies and then OK. Click on Delete Files, put a tick in the box labelled Delete all offline content and click OK. Under History, click on Clear History and then OK. Now look at the top of the window and click on the Content tab, select AutoComplete and finally, Clear Forms.

Firefox

Click on Tools and then Options, then click on Privacy. Click on the Clear button next to Cache and Saved Form Information.

Deleting your browsing history

Internet browsers also keep a record of all the web pages you visit or the search words you have typed into the toolbar search box. To delete history from your browsers, hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard, then press the H key (Ctrl, Alt and H for Opera). Find any entries that say www.aanchal.org.uk, right click and choose Delete. You can do this to delete any pages/websites/words you have searched.

Emails

To prevent people reading your emails and monitoring what you are doing, please read through the below points to keep your information and communication safe.

If you receive threatening or abusive emails, print them and store them somewhere secure so they can be used as evidence or forward them to a trusted friend who can keep a record for you.
